Say "NO" to BCD

When things aren’t going quite as we want, we have to be careful not to fall into the BCD trap. BCD stands for:
  • Blaming
  • Complaining
  • Defensiveness
Blaming indicates that we’re not willing to take responsibility. We think it’s always someone else’s fault that things didn’t go right.
Complaining makes us inefficient and just plain irritating to be around. I’m willing to bet you have people in your lives that do this all the time. Don’t become one of them.
Defensiveness reveals our egos and our weaknesses. We’re humans and we make mistakes. It’s okay to admit that we’re wrong. Trust me - your team will respect you more for admitting you made a mistake than trying to cover it up and pretend you’re perfect.
So don’t BlameComplain, or be Defensive - just fix the issue and move on.
